Creative Photo Session in the Woods
I have been wanting to do a photo session at sunset and my friend has these beautiful woods in her backyard, so I knew I needed to try something out with them. For this creative session, I found myself standing on a small hill in the backyard, shooting down into the woods as the golden light filtered through the branches.
Using Off Camera Flash in the Woods
As the sun dropped lower, the woods grew darker, and natural light wasn’t quite enough to get the look I wanted. That’s when I brought out my flash to add more light to my friend. I love that she wore a satin dress so the light would reflect and add interesting dimension. I placed the off camera flash to the left of my subject to achieve this look and adjusted it by bring it closer to my friend as the light sank below the horizon.
North Carolina Woods Photo Session
This session reminded me how much I love experimenting with lighting and angles! It was so fun doing it in the woods of North Carolina where the tree are dense and give off whimsical vibes. We captured this during fall and I loved the different textures the leaves gave that had fallen. Maybe I will need to try it it again during the spring!
